Hinata is a dynamic volleyball player known for his exceptional jumping ability, which he developed to overcome his height disadvantage. Starting as a complete beginner at Karasuno High, he quickly became a standout spiker and later transitioned to a middle blocker. After high school, he traveled to Brazil to play beach volleyball, earning the nickname "Ninja Shoyo," and eventually joined the MSBY Black Jackals and the Japan Men’s National Volleyball Team for the 2021 Olympics. As of 2022, he plays for Asas São Paulo in the Brazil Super League.
